Veteran lawmaker who formerly served as head of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Sen. Panfilo "Ping" Lacson praised Pres. Rody Duterte for firing one of his ally, DILG Secretary Ismael "Mike" Sueno which is a sign of a strong leader.
On Monday, Pres. Rody Duterte fired on the spot the head of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) over corruption issues.
According to Sen. Lacson, Pres. Duterte fired DILG Secretary Sueno immediately than waiting him to file his resignation then accepting it "with much regret."
Here's the Tweet from Sen. Lacson:
Sen. Lacson tweeted "While others would 'accept with much regret the resignation of ...,' this ONE simply said, 'You're fired.' That is LEADERSHIP," Sen. Lacson tweeted.
The decision of Pres. Duterte to fire former DILG Sec. Sueno on the spot came after the Cabinet Meeting, the reasons for his removal was due to "loss of trust and confidence."
Before the decision of Pres. Duterte to fire Sec. Sueno was made, three undersecretaries of DILG sent a letter to Malacañang, informing the President about the alleged corruption of Sueno and urged him to investigate quietly.
Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella confirmed the news to the media about the dismissal of DILG Secretary Sueno and he also infomred the media that the President had earlier asked a few questions of Mr. Sueno, the summary dismissal sered as a warning that Mr. Duterte would not countenance any questionable or legally untenable decisions by any member of the Cabinet.
