The Philippines largest hospital featuring a 1,500 bed capacity officially open to the Filipino public in Davao City. The title of becoming the country's largest hospital was given by some Health officials to Southern Philippines Medical Center in Davao City.
For the past few years, the Philippine General Hospital in Manila is considered as the largest in the country but with the improvements made with the SPMC, it is now considered as the largest hospital in the country.
One of the newest building of SPMC is the Central Intensive Care Unit (ICU) featuring 153 ICU beds and 137 beds for general medicines cases.
SPMC also features a Cancer Institute Building equipped with the much needed facilities such as diagnostics, chemotherapy, and many other facilities.
There is also an isolation facility for all infectious diseases, namely Mers-Cov, SARS and any other infectious diseases.
The popular House of Hope which is often visited by Pres. Rody Duterte had a new extension building with additional rooms and play area intended for children who were victims of cancer.
The SPMC project in Davao City is developed by Megaworld Corporation, with its wholly-owned subsidiary Suntrust Properties, Inc.
